Get Out The Vote!

Scroll down for Caucus schedules and info.    We’ve all heard the arguments over whether or not “winning is the main thing.” For many Republicans, they would rather lose than support candidates that they don’t think are conservative enough. Fair enough, but when we do have a candidate to support, Get Out The Vote activities can make all the difference. Especially in local elections, a good GOTV program can win an election by only a few votes! This is important!!

Get Out The Vote refers to activities used by all parties to ensure that local voters have received their message about a particular election or candidate, and includes election day work such as poll watching, calling voter lists and even giving rides to the polls. These activities are extremely important and those organizing them, such as precinct captains and other volunteers need your help. Keep in mind that part of the Democrats’ success in recent years is wholly due to amazing GOTV work both on the streets and on the web. Our ability to deliver a compelling message and do it well could mean all the difference in coming elections both locally and nationally – but especially locally!!!

To get involved, contact us to provide the following info:

      Mailing address and Physical Address

  1. Phone Number
  2. Email Address
  3. Have you volunteered for party activities before?
  4. Would you prefer calling, knocking on doors, administrative work (poll watching) or giving rides to voters?
  5. Do you have any other skills to bring?

If organizing with a party team is not for you, remember that you can support candidates directly – simply let them know you’d like to help and they will find something you can do to effect their election!!

Caucus schedules and info:

Our precinct caucus meetings are scheduled for March 16th at 7 PM.   I’ve attached the list of precinct chairs and where those caucus meetings will be held.   We have some really exciting candidates running this year and your attendance at your caucus meetings is the first, important step in getting these good guys onto the primary ballot.   Run as a delegate yourself, or know who you’d like to represent you as delegates.

At the precinct meetings, each person interested in running as delegate will write his/her name at the front of the room, and then will take the floor for a couple of minutes to express why he/she would be a good delegate to County.  The number of delegates selected from each precinct varies between 5 and 12, depending on voter turnout in ’08.   One delegate from each precinct will also be chosen to go all the way to the State Assembly.  There will be a votes cast by written ballots for both County Delegates and the State Delegate.    Those choosing to be delegates must be aware of the time commitments they are making for the respective assemblies.

The County Assembly will be held on March 28th, at 2 PM at the Kremmling High School, and the State Assembly will be May 21st and May 22nd at the Budweiser Convention Center in Loveland.  This State Assembly is where final votes are cast to determine which candidates make it onto the primary election ballots for the summer primary elections.
